Science and Experiment Workshop
The subjects that children are most curious about and ask the most questions are science subjects. It only takes a few hours to spend with a child asking questions to understand this. They want to learn how kites fly, how ships float, how rainbows are formed, how people walk in space.
Children up to 12 years old; they make observation, accumulation, research, classification, questioning and questioning. Between the ages of 7-12, they are "Scientists" whose investigative features reach their peak. (AlIen, 1991, p. V) The subjects that children are most curious about and ask the most questions are science subjects. It only takes a few hours to spend with a child asking questions to understand this. They want to learn how kites fly, how ships float, how rainbows are formed, how people walk in space. They disassemble toys, research how they work, try to understand and spend hours working, they do not get tired of examining and researching.
Unfortunately, from the later years of primary school, the prejudices of the society have taken the children captive. Science and mathematics are losing their exciting place in life, and they are replaced by the appearance of a "hard course". This can destroy not only the school success of the students, but also their career and life successes by using their potential creativity in these fields.
In the Scientific Design Workshop, there will be a wide range of stations from the field of science to the field of engineering. At these stations, students encounter a different scientific problem or structure every month. The main purpose here is to determine the student's interest in the scientific material and to raise awareness about science. The studies will include many applications and visuals related to physics, chemistry, biology and astronomy sciences. The program will start from kindergarten and continue until the 4th grade.
The science and design workshop has two stages: 5 -7 years old and 7-12 years old. Groups are formed by looking at the age of the student. All the activities in these workshops have been prepared based on the National Education Curriculum and the subjects and achievements in the textbooks used.
